Helen Howitt
Helen started teaching in the swingFX team in june 2011.
Her passion for dance started as a child in modern dance and was rekindled with modern jive in 2007 and followed by salsa and WCS.
She fell in love with West Coast Swing on first sight.....the potential for musicality, partner connection, the beauty of elasticity and soft footwork of West Coast Swing had her hooked!
This took her to the US in 2010 to experience more. Lessons from US pros and a WCS cruise in the Caribbean were highlights and helped develop her dance.
Attending major WCS events/workshops in Australia has furthered her skills and she loves sharing these with her students....Her goal is that all her students will come away with a fun enjoyable experience of dance lessons...and be able to share the wonderful feeling of West Coast Swing....
When people ask her what West Coast Swing is she always tells them to watch this clip which is a “Jack and jill” dance..pure improvisation.....with the beautiful Tessa Cunningham and Terry Roseborough
When not dancing....Helen works as a palliative care nurse in a private hospital in Auckland.
